PLASTIC WASTE

Plastic Waste Incinerator | MT INCINERATION SYSTEMS
Plastic Waste: The Modern World's Most Challenging Environmental Problem
Plastic waste consists of packaging, bottles, bags, film, disposable products, and industrial waste. Thanks to their durable structure, they can persist in nature for hundreds of years without decomposing. Therefore, plastic waste is one of today's most critical environmental threats. MT INCINERATION SYSTEMS offers effective solutions for both industrial and municipal applications with its YF Series Incinerators, developed for the safe, controlled, and environmentally compliant disposal of plastic waste.
Types and Characteristics of Plastic Waste
PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate): Common in bottles, packaging, and food containers.
HDPE / LDPE: Used in the production of bags, detergent canisters and plastic films.
PP (Polypropylene): It is common in the textile, automotive and packaging industries.
PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride): Used in construction, pipes and window profiles; requires special gas treatment during incineration.
PS and ABS: Used in electronics, white goods and toy industries.
Chlorine, sulfur, and other additives found in plastics necessitate gas purification and flue cleaning systems during combustion. Therefore, MT Combustion Systems has developed specialized multi-stage flue cleaning and filtration technologies.
Environmental Impacts of Plastic Waste
Plastics remain in the environment without decomposing, accumulating in soil, water, and marine ecosystems. Microplastics pose a threat to both life and human health. Furthermore, burning plastics outdoors releases toxic compounds such as dioxin and furan. Therefore, plastic waste should only be disposed of in closed-system incinerators with emissions control.
To eliminate this risk, MT COMBUSTION SYSTEMS purify flue gases with a three-stage system:
Gas Cooling Unit
Chemical Washing (Chimney Washing System)
Activated Carbon Filtration
As a result, the gases released into the atmosphere remain well below the emission standards EN 13284-1 and EU 2010/75/EC.
YF Series Solid Waste Incinerator: High Performance Specific for Plastic
Designed for the disposal of plastic waste using high-temperature, complete combustion principles, the YF Series Incinerators provide low emissions through high temperatures and automatic air balance. The combustion chamber prevents dioxin formation by providing stable combustion at temperatures up to 1100°C. The refractory lining used in the system is resistant to high temperatures, minimizing heat loss.
Working Principle
Plastic waste is admitted to the combustion chamber via the feed hopper. Pre-drying and gasification occur in the first stage, followed by full oxidation in the second chamber. The resulting hot gases are passed through a flue cleaning unit and gas purification filters, rendering them harmless to the atmosphere. An optional heat exchanger allows for process heat or hot water production.
Advantages of the YF Series
Low Emission and Chimney Washing Technology: Gases released into the environment are completely purified with plastic-specific acid gas neutralization, active carbon filtration and multi-stage chimney washing system.
Up to 90% Reduction in Waste Volume: Burning plastics provides a significant reduction in volume and minimizes landfill costs.
Energy Recovery: The high heat obtained from the combustion process can be used to produce hot water, steam or energy.
High Security and Automation: Provides safe, uninterrupted operation with automatic feeding, temperature monitoring and alarm systems.
Long-Lasting Refractory Structure: High temperature resistant refractory coating provides protection against wear and heat loss for many years.
